To respond to the reevaluation of the role library in the 21st century, the Bushwick Community Library takes a stance on the libraries of the future. Questions posed in the studio centered on the accessibility to physical books versus the role of the internet in the library today.
The programmatic decisions represents the new stance of community library that believes in the continuation of access to the physical book yet hopes to respond for a need for libraries to be accessible and open to the greater public. This openness to the public may be seen in the form of a completely open cafe to a semi porous library/reading room to finally classrooms in a solid building.
